AFRICAN PALMS awards grants in amounts up to $5,000 each to community projects in Africa based on need and are funded from the proceeds of the sale of palm crosses and totes, along with all donations received.
Projects receiving our grant funding in recent years include disaster and refugee relief, medical and public health programs, agriculture ventures, clean drinking water systems, and education. All grant requests are reviewed by our Grants Committee and must meet all grant criteria before being awarded.
Self-sustaining projects that may be considered include (but are not limited to):
Health clinics; hospice/hostel programs
Training for public health; HIV/AIDS prevention
Agriculture; animal/poultry programs
Vocational training/community education
Improvement of community water supply
The Grants Committee considers all fully completed grant applications meeting the above criteria. Once the Grants Committee has reviewed the applications, recommendations for funding are made to the Board of Trustees, which makes the final decision.
